    Coolant and Heater Problems

Sounds like a head gasket to me. Similar problem to my HG - hissing from expansion tank cap - I thought it was a faulty cap - replaced it a couple of times and tried several other fixes but it came down to HG fault. The HG fails and then gases go into the coolant system causing it to...

disco died this morning... maybe fuel pump

It should still start if the fuel pump is buggered. My fuel pump went about 20k ago, but the disco would still start and drive. The test I was advised for the fuel pump is to rev the engine to 3000 rpm, if the fuel pump works it will rev ok, if the fuel pump is buggered it will only rev to a...

    funny noise

Hi Borntobemild. When I raised it to off road height it seemed to get to the right height ok. The compressor ran for a minute or two and then stopped. Is there a test I can do to see if the bags are knackered?

    funny noise

I've got a D2 '99 TD5 and today it came up with a new problem. After turning the ignition off and removing the key there was a deep noise, like a motor trying to turn but being stuck, or a pump - sorry, hard to explain a noise in text. It's made the noise before but for only about 5 seconds...

not sure if my td5 has been chipped!

Try changing gears at low revs. If its been chipped it should change gear at just over 1000rpm with no problem, all the way up to 5th gear. If it hasn't been chipped it'll struggle. Also see how responsive it is in 5th gear, travelling between 30mph and 60mph it should accelerate cleanly and...

    Free Oil Filters

OK, scrub that....the code doesn't work on EVERYTHING, but it seems to work on a lot of service items - brake pads, discs etc - all with 31% off with the code BIGDEAL31
  10. T

    Free Oil Filters

Also found out that the code works on any purchases over £10 - you only get free filters with the oil purchases, but on everything else you get a 31% discount - quite handy

    Fueld pump issues

I fannied about with a cheap one from ebay, it fitted ok and worked ok, noisier than the genuine LR on though. Downside was that it didn't read the fuel level properly - reserve light came on when there was 20+ litres still in the tank. Swapped it for a genuine LR pump, well worth it, quieter...

Sorry Tale of Woe... TD5 (many problems)

Makes me realise I got off very lightly with my 1999 D2 and was well worth paying the 5k for (18 months and 35,000 miles ago). So far just head gasket, fuel pump and 3 amigos....so far....

    Free Oil Filters

Just checked and it still works - it's an online deal. They won't tell you that there are free filters - it's a bit of a hidden deal, I think it's maybe been left on by accident. Make sure you follow the instructions - choose the triple QX oil, then select oil filters, one per 5ltr of oil...

    Autologic performance tune Disco 2

I had my TD5 remapped by Mike at Dynachip too - superb service. £250 all in and he comes to you, while there he also diagnosed a faulty MAF, so I got that replaced later on. The biggest difference with the remap was the increase in torque and the smoother power bands through the gears. Prior to...
