    Runs worse after disconnecting MAF?

If you have a definite misfire then I would suspect the engine injector harness. There are crimped connections within it which appear to break down with oil ingress. I have soldered mine. My MAF sensor is disconnected and the car runs great, as well as it did new. It's also a TD5 auto with 114k...

Texaco Cold Climate PAS Fluid 14315 or Dexron II?

I ran Dexron in my ACE for 5 years without realising it was not the correct stuff. Dexron seems fine in the powers steering and the ACE. I sprang a leak in the flexible hose from the ACE pump. Never saw a leak from around it until I took it off and pressurised it with a tester, then I saw the...

    Adjusting ride height

Engineer, what for? You can pump up with Hawkeye and it will stay up - or it does for me. What are you gaining here. Your original post complained that the Disco didn't hold the height set with Hawkeye but it couldn't. Only on the same piece of ground with the same loading could it feasibly...

    Noisy steering

Thanks guys for replies. I can't just imagine the box being faulty. The resonating pipes sounds realistic and if they are slightly thinner, thicker or whatever than proper Land Rover ones. I'll try to get it in the air this weekend and have a play. Incidentally; bought a new rear doughnut...

Few tips please on Disco 1 300tdi

I have an old 93 Disco 300 and I would stake my life on her. The chassis is great but the body is failing a little. My advice is drive it. It should drive, stop and corner very cleanly for a two ton lump. If it doesn't then walk away. Apart from a slightly noisy engine at low revs and painfully...

    Noisy steering

Just an update. I have replaced the Steering fluid with ATF and it is no different. Bled the steering box. Checked the pipe routes and fixings and I can't find any reason for the increased noise since the pipe replacement. The pipes were Britpart and I know there is little respect on this site...

Total Disco newbie with a few techie questions

Be careful buying a D2 with issues. The radio drives the cd autochanger and needs to be compatible. The warning bongs could be for loads of reasons. You need to know why it's bonging and how much it may cost. Fully loaded with Ace the D2 is a fantastic car, many non stop drives to the Alps at...

    discovery ace conversion

Sibbo, did you make this up yourself? How is the block attached to the ace valve block, gasketing etc? What flexible pipe work did you use? the land Rover ones are thin walled and I would be a bit scared of changing to plant/industrial style twin wire hose. I have spliced in a new flexi from...

    Drive line vibration

Tyres are new Wranglers. No split in doughnut but rubber may be hard. Bushes in suspension wouldn't quite cause this surely but seem fine anyway.

    Adjusting ride height with hawkeye

I did it today to check it out for Fireman Andy. It does stay roughly at the level set. The compressor and valve checks are separate to the height level set which is separate for each side also.

    Drive line vibration

Third post thread today. My D2 2003 TD5 has an annoying vibration when traveling above 80mph. It has been getting worse for the last 4 or 5 years and since about 60,000 miles. Now 115,000. It comes at about 80 and sometimes you seem to be able to drive through it but its always hanging around...

    EGR and power loss

Following advice on this forum I recently disconnected my MAF and Airbox pressure sensor. The TD5 runs much better. Running more freely at 2000 to 3000 revs and pulling away cleanly at junctions. I guess this is due to the EGR being disabled. According to Rave the MAF is there to control the...

    Adjusting ride height with hawkeye

correct. You do not set through programming. I think when you use circuit tests to set levels without setting blocks any movement change of load will vary the level count. It is suspension after all. So just set it to around 150 on level ground. It will retain the height, but not exactly.

    Noisy steering

I have been playing with my D2 a lot just recently and need to post some threads. Replaced gearbox cooler pipes, airbags, power steering pipes and spliced in a new flexi to the Ace pipes from the pump. All working pretty good but the power steering seems a lot noisier. The pipes were Brit Part...

    Adjusting ride height with hawkeye

Well mine stay where I put them ish. I don't understand how this module works exactly but the readings are never the same. But, when i put mine to 150 they stay around that. I think just moving the car would change the setting a little but it will stay around 140 to 155 and the height looks...
