Disco 2 Electric sunroof motor problems

<grin> Easier said than done... Option B is, of course, leaving it non-working.

Disco 2 Electric sunroof motor problems

Talk to me about Disco2 sunroof motors... This type... Do they regularly have a sulk? I've got a non-Landy with a sulking but very, VERY similar sunroof motor - the only difference seems to be the limit switches. And I've got a spare motor, which is failing in the exact same way. What seems...

Series 3 What are these (distributor bits and fuel system)?

Somebody's added a cheap disposable fuel filter into the line for one tank, but forgotten the other one. Looks like it's not been changed for years, either... Two of 'em should cost you pennies at the local car spares place - but there's a filter bowl on the pump anyway.

    Series 3 wheelnuts

13st is 180lb. On a 2ft bar, that's 360lb/ft. That's plenty, but not THAT much in the grand scheme of things...

Series 3 Should the temperature gauge usually move much when driving?

One thing that nobody's yet mentioned... Modern car temp gauges don't actually tell you the temp. They're ECU-driven, and really just say "Cold - Normal - Hot". The needle will sit stationary all the way between the thermostat closing/opening temp and (quite probably the upper) fan switch...

    Series 3 downpipe studs

Great... Mine's blowing a bit there - and I've just done the starter!

    Bleeding bleeding! Brakes

And there's definitely fluid the other side of it?

    Bleeding bleeding! Brakes

Have you tried undoing the rear pipe unions at the valve, and seeing if you're getting fluid either side of that?

    Bleeding bleeding! Brakes

There's a lot of pipe full of air. It'll take a while for the fluid to come through... Have you tried just opening a nipple and leaving it for a while?

    Bleeding bleeding! Brakes

And you have got the fluid going IN to the lower port on each cylinder and OUT from the upper port, right? Doesn't matter so much whether it goes through the lower or upper cylinder first, just that you're not going to get trapped air.

    Bleeding bleeding! Brakes

Try filling the master reservoir, then just leaving the bleed nips open, one at a time. Fluid will just seep down the pipework, and you'll get air-free fluid coming out in fairly short order. TLS fronts, or SLS?

Series 3 Starter options (2.25 petrol)

Looks like just over £90+vat. Not sure if the surcharge is included in that or not, though. In the end, I've gone for one from a rebuilder on the 'bay - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262492458254 - £108 outright, delivered, so a couple of quid cheaper than that Craddock one, and I'll have a figure...

Series 3 Starter options (2.25 petrol)

Well, I braved it... It's been apart. And I have a definite diagnosis. It's dead. Seriously, the nose bearing/bush has damn near seized. With the casing/magnets/brush-end removed, I can rotate the armature in the nose casing. Mostly. Sometimes it goes tight. When it turns, there's definite...

Series 3 Starter options (2.25 petrol)

The starter on my s3's dead. It worked just fine, perfectly reliably, always starting well. Then it went clunk, and didn't do anything any more... There's a solenoid click, the dash lights go dim, and that's all... Fortunately, it push-starter easily. On my own. When I remembered to turn the...

    ABS, how to achieve it?

If you're locking up, then your tyres are what's limiting your stopping ability, not your brakes. They're doing as much as they can do. Adding a servo will mean you can lock them with less foot effort. Moving up to 11" brakes will mean you're more likely to lock 'em. ABS just releases the...
