If you replace the steel plate that is riveted to the gearbox tunnel along with the auto selector and the complete CDL selector from the D2. It will all swap over to the D1. You will however need to modify the level on the gearbox end for the gear selector.

If it was an immobiliser issue I would expect the red led to still be lit on the dash when cranking. Can you hear the fuel pump when you switch on the ignition? Try the priming routine to see if it's a fuel related problem

No I haven't :( it came as a LHD defender one not a Series 3 RHD. Can anyone help?

Double check the oil level when cold, idling in neutral after you have held it in each gear for 5 seconds. Check the both sides of the dipstick as sometimes it will give a false reading on one side of the stick as you pull it up the tube.

Had a play this afternoon with paint shop on the interior, this is the final choice. This is reflect the colours in the engine bay. I would also like to have teak deck floors like in the defender yaught edition

Yes it would not be my first choice, but it's cheap, harder wearing than trying to paint it. The cheapest I have found so far to leather a dash is £1000. So could always go this route in a few years time if the flocking looks tired.
