    Thanks for that. Apparently it is the original chassis, just galvanised for the sake of it, so maybe your 'more money than sense' theory rings true. It's good to hear that they'll last 20+ years without falling apart. Maybe not having one isn't the deal breaker we first thought.

    Yes, she had a decent test drive in the X-tech one a couple of weeks ago. She got on well with it. She realises it's probably not going to be as comfortable to drive as her Clio, but it fits in with our lifestyle so much better. My car has no boot to speak of and only two seat with nowhere...

    First off, hello everyone! I'm new to Landrovers and therefore clueless, so please go fairly easy on me:) I'm currently looking for a Defender for my girlfriend. She's a vet nurse and her little Clio isn't really up to the job. We also need to be able to tow a boat so it should fit the bill...
