I had similar problem, check the trailing arm to axle mountings. Mine had corroded and partially sheared, leading to total failure and axle and trailing arm parting ways.

Update- Fuel pipes blown through, filter changed, sedimenter cleaned. New lift pump fitted (as old one was weak/slow) all appears to be o.k!?! Leak is from the little rubber nipple, believe (via search) this to be something to do with the boost diaphragm! More work!!! Seriously thinking of...

Try sureterm, also look at ways of reducing premium - garaged, alarm/imobiliser(thatchem approved etc.), increase excess all the usual stuff!

Daft question but does anyone know if the bellhousing bolt pattern on the rover (buick design) V8 is the same as other buick engines or is it only specific to the rover V8? Does anyone know of any other bolt on engine swaps? New mounts easier to fabricate than having adapters made.

Had a thought, is it possible to have the spring curve increased/decreased (depending on requirements) when the leaf spring is being made, just thinking if parabolic (twin leaf) type springs were used instead of multi-leaf type springs.
