Ah right, thank you. What could I do (hopefully relatively easily) to help stop this? The carpet - is it standard being cut how it has been under seat or has it been cut to allow work to be carried out on that side of the body work? It looks like the carpet should be “as one.”

That’s what I thought too. Yes, it’s got a very clean MOT history! I don’t know much about defenders, but would it need strengthening and why would they have cut it down I wonder. I don’t like not knowing all the facts..!

I’m just thinking for future re-sale, I wouldn’t want any issues and would want to know for peace of mind really. I will call about it and ask, but would guess it’s not rotten.

Oh ok, so they wouldn’t have disconnected the odometer and it have done more miles than recorded? I doubt the garage selling it has the logbook…but I can ask. Would the original markings be there if it had a re-spray when it came out in 2012? Does the rear bulkhead look cut down..?

You're not making this any easier... ;) The parts are quite comprehensive aren't they! It's not just had a new chassis and a few bits... It's had the timing belt kit too. You're right, I think I'm going to have to go with it..! Worst case, it's a pretty good market for sellers and if I didn't...

Thanks for your feedback - that's really reassuring. I don't have any experience with defenders, so it's great to get the views of you guys on here. Yes, and since the rebuild, it has passed it's MOT's. Prior to all the work in 2020, it passed in 2019 and in 2017 it was advised on shock bushes...
