Has anyone bought from Yan the Landy Man

Thank you - I had heard quite a few negative things… How about Johnsons 4x4 in Surrey?

    Bodywork question

Ah right, thank you. What could I do (hopefully relatively easily) to help stop this? The carpet - is it standard being cut how it has been under seat or has it been cut to allow work to be carried out on that side of the body work? It looks like the carpet should be “as one.”

    Bodywork question

Hi all, can I ask your thoughts on these 2 photo’s (whether this is normal or something to quite concerned about) on this photo please? It’s a 2007 for reference and the rivets. The other side appears not to have it but with regards to the carpet, is that normal or indicate work done? Many thanks.

    Questions about an ex-RAF defender

That’s what I thought too. Yes, it’s got a very clean MOT history! I don’t know much about defenders, but would it need strengthening and why would they have cut it down I wonder. I don’t like not knowing all the facts..!

    Questions about an ex-RAF defender

I’m just thinking for future re-sale, I wouldn’t want any issues and would want to know for peace of mind really. I will call about it and ask, but would guess it’s not rotten.

    Questions about an ex-RAF defender

Oh ok, so they wouldn’t have disconnected the odometer and it have done more miles than recorded? I doubt the garage selling it has the logbook…but I can ask. Would the original markings be there if it had a re-spray when it came out in 2012? Does the rear bulkhead look cut down..?

    Questions about an ex-RAF defender

Hi all, can I ask what are the things to consider when potentially looking at an ex-RAF defender please? Here’s the link to one, it has low miles but for 12 years of its life it wasn’t “on the road” so my guess is they weren’t recorded? https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/12721453

    90 x-tech question

Thanks all, that tool is useful!

    90 x-tech question

You’re right lol, he’s asking £25,000 before he advertises it, or it’ll be closer to 30k!? I don’t have that kind of money, but wanted to see if it was about right or not.

    90 x-tech question

That’s ok. He said “X Tech was basically a ‘XS’ spec 2 seater so it’s the highest spec you can buy front and rear heated screens, electric windows, central locking, heated seats, air conditioning.”

    90 x-tech question

Hi, can I ask what a 2003 x-tech with 44,000 miles on is worth please (considering to buy) and how many were made? Thanks.

You're not making this any easier... ;) The parts are quite comprehensive aren't they! It's not just had a new chassis and a few bits... It's had the timing belt kit too. You're right, I think I'm going to have to go with it..! Worst case, it's a pretty good market for sellers and if I didn't...

Thanks for your feedback - that's really reassuring. I don't have any experience with defenders, so it's great to get the views of you guys on here. Yes, and since the rebuild, it has passed it's MOT's. Prior to all the work in 2020, it passed in 2019 and in 2017 it was advised on shock bushes...

It is nice inside...IMO too. Ha - I think it was just after he'd cleaned it! Here is a pic of the back:

Very good point - I will ask this. Are there any independent LR or defender specialist companies that you know of that does this at all? Do you mean pictures of the defender? I will try to get some, I do have a couple of the inside:

Yes, I get what you're saying. I'm prepared to do the maintenance myself and there are 2 local specialists if I need to draw on them... I know what you mean about garages - I'd far rather do what I can myself (as I'm very particular!) A tracker will be the first thing I purchase :) I'm only a...

Have you, there must be something about them that made you keep going back..! I get what you mean, I work from home and don't go out and about that much, it would also be blocked in when parked as extra security. In your experience, what do people like/dislike about them the most? I won't fully...

Thank you - for sure! He has a few on it already, but you can never be too careful. I can imagine, I'm a bit like that with my car now and that's not a defender!

Good point. He may go to £18,500 but that would be the absolute lowest. I've not as a daily (which this would be, only 5 miles at a time - 2/3 times per day). I would definitely use it, but also look after it. It wouldn't be a show piece.
