Not noticed it at high speed and the landy is noisy to say the least, the bump on the hill start is quite severe.

Any clues as to why when pulling away from a hill start with the hand brake there is a bump which feels like the landy has been rear ended by another vehicle. Any advice on what could be the problem and how to check would be great.

Will a set of defender boost alloys with 235/70/16 tyres fit my 200tdi 90?

Are the spacers needed for the rear drums only and not the front.

I am after a set of alloy wheels for my 1991 200tdi 90 defender which has the standard solid steel wheels fitted but have noticed the drive shaft cap sticks out from the centre of the wheel. Is there a specific type of alloy that will fit my landy and how is the drive shaft cap hidden.

Looking at buying a pair of seats out of another make of car and fitting to the landy. The mounting is not a problem its how to tackle the wiring with the limited wiring fitted as standard to a 1991 90. I may look at the heated windscreen also.

Did a static check for the rod to piston free play, engine off and push brake pedal with hand until resistance is felt (rod makes contact with mc piston), free play 8/10mm which is within spec.

The wheel bearings have been replaced at the same time the brake overhaul, .00015 th end float, used a dial gauge to set the end float. Ive rechecked this and its still the same. Ive given the problem some thought and think i need to buy three pipe clamps to see if its a front or rear problem then if this draws a blank ill pressure bleed again.

Also fitted new front wheel bearings if this matters.

Still has the original rear drum shoes fitted, ive not had the drums off so the adjustment is still the same it was before i overhauled the front brakes/lines.
