Welcome to Landyzone Michael
When I got my first 1.8 it started to develop vibrations from the rear when cornering. I thought it was rear diff bushes but it turned out to be the rear viscous coupling bush. Changed both and problem went away. Always something in the drive train though, you will...

2001 1.8 ES Manual
Bought off Ebay for £250 with 4 new Grabbers fitted and 9 months MOT so no brainer to me.
New bolts for starter motor
New coil pack
That sorted problems I bought it with. Since then outside of normal servicing

Welcome Bowyer
I was like you back in the autumn of 2016 when I too bought my first Land Rover. It too was a Freebie 2001 but a 1.8ES. Took it straight out to Sweden, where we were living at the time and it has been a solid motor ever since. No rust so far and no major problems. Second one...

You were not wrong with this comment, wish I'd seen it before I used them. Cost of parts if bought from LR Direct £126.76. Moores charged me £247.24 plus £250 labour! Expensive lesson.

Picking up on a really old post of yours about the regulator repair kit from e-crofting on fleabay. How did you get on with it, any success?
-
Hi JF,
How went the water problem? Did you get to the bottom of it?
-
Thanks Lucas, had to go the same way after the repair lasted 3 operations of the window!! Bummer

Yeh thanks for the tip Alibro. Found out the hard way, bought the diy kit as opposed to made up wires and it lasted 3 operations of the window!!
Now waiting for a new regulator to arrive. BTW have you heard of Flying 8 Motor Co in Norwich? They claim to deal in new LR parts but never came across...

Further to my earlier post, anyone know the design background of the Freelander? Don't say it doesn't have one either. Just that the regulator I took out of the driver's door this afternoon is badged up VW, at least the motor is.

Thanks for the tip, lost the wire last night and was about to purchase complete regulator since I thought diy repairs not possible. Let you know how I get on.
