No but you are right! Or do like people did before steam irons became a "thing", either iron it slightly damp, or wet a cloth like an old tea towel and iron it through that. I find that even with a steam iron you sometimes still need to do this...

Put some padding on top of the MDF (a folded up thick bed sheet is good) and then iron your on top of that. A steam iron is best but if you don't have one then you could try dampening your sheet and then iron it - this should steam the creases...

My only worry would be that it is too easy to fall asleep. Which is why on long journeys I always have some "stay awake" drinks in the cubby box that you can no longer get in the UK. We have to import them from the US.:(
