I experimented with Boiled Linseed Oil on the plastic parts of the D2 this morning. Lovely smell, reminded me of the days before plastic window frames. Initial results look good but it depends upon longevity really.

Linseed oil, that's worthy of a try. I currently use a liquid shoe polish stick with foam applicator. That has an element of success in bringing them back to life, albeit limited.

I like the finish, but really not sure about just "sticking" them on. I would be happier if there was some form of mechanical retention device too. The existing ones on your car are just like mine, really well pitted and grey.

Hi Tilly. The others are all wider for real off roaders 50mm and 75mm and for some reason much cheaper than the factory originals. What is your delay in fitting them?

Thanks for the ideas Anaconda.
I like the idea of the textured paint, that would match the UV destruction of the wheel arch protectors in theory, so that's a possible.
The heating up may not bring enough oils to the surface to make much difference to them and if they did this solution has a...

I'm rather fed up with my original 23 year old wing arch protectors. They are grey and resemble the moons surface due no doubt to utra violet degradation.. Generally they let down what is an otherwise quite tidy D2. Firstly I thought about painting them. Has anyone done this? Does it last very...

Total cost for this repair was £286.50 inclusive of ARBs, new bushes, vertical links, Pulley, Drive belt and single reservoir.

Final update.
After a few weeks of motoring I cannot detect any difference in handling between the original ACE system on my D2 and the now inert roll bars fitted. So job done and highly recommended to other in the same situation.

Hi, I am suffering the same issue and as you say there seems to be quite a few simple repair kits on EBay, but only this one specifically for DS2s. Based upon replacing both of them it would be $44 about £32 for two small rollers. Ouch!
The question is has anyone sourced a more reasonable...

And almost a year later the passenger front door lock actuator fails, but no problem: with this excellent article the replacement is quite straight forward, if not overly easy. Managed to break the glass on the door mirror this time too :o((

Thank you I have dropped them an e-mail

Yes, if you do a search on Metalastik 13/1899 thats about the only thing that comes up. Whatever a RKC3651 is?
It is the same as the part used on my Grinnall, somewhat modified and contains the Metalastik 13/1899 I am seeking.
I dont wish to pay that sort of money though and just need the bush...

I am in touch with PolyBush, they have a couple of poly jobbers that can be adapted to fit. However I just thought someone might point me to a trader/site that recognises Metalastik 13/1899 and says "Yep, I've a couple in my parts bin"...........
Bit of a long shot that......

Thanks for the info I'll drop them an e mail to see if they might be able to come up with an alternative.

I am afraid this is not a Land Rover item. It is fitted to a torque tube extender mount to the body of a Grinnall TR7V8. The back axle is a Rover SD1 item, but extender mount is smaller than the Rimmers offered item for this vehicle, so it's a typical Mark Grinnall hotchpoch.
I just thought that...
