    Discovery Flashers

Yes, that's certainly a couple of cases of water ingress. Whilst the main 12v electrics PCB tracks are fairly heavy duty by nature of the current they have to carry and can be cleaned and repaired in some case, the IDM piggy back PCB tracks are much finer and more fragile. Without a circuit...

    Discovery Flashers

HI SF Thanks for the description and pictures which makes sense. I thought there would be a PCB inside the Fuse Box Passenger Compartment P101 even though I have never seen inside one. There are some six Siemens and NEC automotive dual PCB mounted relays shown in pictures of it, so it was going...

    Discovery Flashers

I am interested to find out more about the Discovery S2 (2003) indicator system. Recently in the very cold weather the flashers played up, neither side wanting to start, then flashing very slowly even though the car was started and running. Eventually they came up to normal speed as the car...

    Batteries

Well, I managed to keep this battery ticking over for another 3 years, which is amazing. As you guys kindly recommended I went to Tanya Batteries for a replacement yesterday and what a company! They have a great web site, easy to navigate and offer a choice of batteries for your particular...

    Take away hook

Has anyone got a spare FWX100000PUY - LAND ROVER HOOK RETAINING knocking around. It's the hook on the passenger side of the centre console on the Discovery S2 that you hang your Mutton Madras on when returning from the take away. Cant seem to find any stock of them. Any help appreciated

Disco 2 D2 td5 ACE amber warning light

So all I have done is change the ACE oil and cleaned the filter on the solenoid block and after a couple of hundred or so miles (in which the Amber ACE light came on a couple more times) the system settled down and now after eight weeks and 1200 miles the light no longer comes on. Maybe it was...

    ACE amber light coming on

Update and closure of thread. The Nanocom figures for the ACE system proved to be in line with a working system, even though various fault codes were saved in the memory. Solenoids resistance values were all OK too. Clearing the fault codes and running the vehicle brought up the amber light and...

Disco 2 D2 td5 ACE amber warning light

Update: Did 400 miles over the last week. The ACE light came on 3 times during a period of 7 days. Various codes which when cleared took another 100 or so miles to bring up the ACE light again. Absolutely no change to the handling with the ACE light illuminated. I now have a replacement ACE ECU...

Disco 2 D2 td5 ACE amber warning light

Not really, however I am unfamiliar with this filter and as such unsure what consititutes dirty. Anyway it's very clean now. Just reviewing what we've done that may have influenced the ACE system: 1. Swapped R13 and R14 relays. 2. Unplugged and pluged the ACE ECU main connector. 3. Cleaned the...

I've now flushed abut a litre of new green PAS/ACE fluid through the system. The reservoir is more green than black now. Cant really do much more..........

Disco 2 D2 td5 ACE amber warning light

Sorry mistake my end. the VIN is SALLTGM873A824162 The reason the ECU is hard to remove is that I cannot see the two nuts to release the frame that holds to BCU and ACE to the body. I think I see one "mounting" JPEG. but cannot get above that as the two ECUs are bolted together. There may be a...

Disco 2 D2 td5 ACE amber warning light

Hi Mjl, I think there is a rear fixing as I showed in the "mounting" JPEG and in the "Image 1" JPEG there might be a mounting to the left hand bottom side of the BCU, Absolutely nothing like the RAVE I have......

Disco 2 D2 td5 ACE amber warning light

Thanks as always SF. My VIN is 837A324162 According to the parts listing the ACE ECU for VINs 3A778135 to XA232816 (which I guess includes my VIN 837A324162), then the Part Number for the ECU is RQT000030. I have seen these available from various sources at reasonable prices. I will get one...

Disco 2 D2 td5 ACE amber warning light

Jesus this is difficult. I have found a lower nut on a sort of bracket that holds the BCU and ACE ECU togther, but that alone is not realeasing the two ECUs. It's nothing like the RAVE I have managed to open. Getting to the point where I'll kick this in to touch and forget about sorting the ACE...

Disco 2 D2 td5 ACE amber warning light

I am trying to get the ACE ECU out of the car to reveal it's part number, so I can get another one. I have removed the glove box and bottom facial trim but cannot see what is holding it in apart from one nut at the front. Does anyone have a link to a copy of the RAVE manua (all mine are now...

The ACE fluid is very dirty in the reservoir. Do you recommend a complete change for fresh fluid might help?

Disco 2 D2 td5 ACE amber warning light

Yes, on an ECU drivers for devices can fail, that is true. On the drive this afternoon I monitored that current fed to the DCV1 and DCV2 as I cornered, the max I saw was just under 5 amps which for a 2.6 ohm winding would indicate the the ACE ECU relay driver transistors are operating pretty...

Disco 2 D2 td5 ACE amber warning light

The filter was fairly clean when removed, but I have washed in petrol, compressed air blown out and re-installed. I would presume that an ACE bleed process would be a good idea next?
