I would do the torque in stages and if crank won’t turn at say 70Nm then got a problem, you can reuse the bolts if in good condition as they’re not designed to yield at that torque

If your journals are correct size I would not bother with plastigauge, if the crank and new bearings cleaned properly, in place, bearings oiled and caps torqued up one at a time you will see if any tight ones, if a problem then plastigauge may...

Does it make that noise when in 4th at same speed or at same revs when in 5th What speed does it occur when in 5th , is it just at a set speed or all speeds from 40-70 eg

I put the btm fixed anvil on the btm diameter and then gently rock the adjustable anvil over the top diameter starting off a tad too big and tightening it a tad each time with the top knob until it drags slightly, then you know you got the two...

I agree that it is technique and practice to get the reading correct. If it won't hold tolerance on multiple readings (a different result each time) then I would say it is the user. I (used to before getting sick) use a micrometer to measure...

I can only look at that and say the “test piece” is wonky. As I said earlier an accurate adjustable spanner is what I would use. I personally don’t understand the use of a micrometer on a round journal, it is so hard to get it straight. Did you...

That might be 63.47 or 63.97 depends on how thimble matches with top mil mark or bottom half mil mark What does it look like with the 50mm slip gauge inserted

Turners do quality head gasket sets def replace valve stem seals, I would also strip the valves and springs, rockers check for any damage and lap them in, inspect head for damage/ cracks etc and order parts once

Yes it does have the 50.00mm bar to set zero, think this is where I was going wrong, as when setting, then trying again most times it was out again which would be putting those final readings out to. Dont think I got it bang on, gonna have...

it does take a delicate touch when measuring , have to use the end of thumbscrew when measuring it will click on the ratchet when it starts to get tight, don’t overtighten and all you are looking for is a sliding fit as you move it over the...
