Sounds exactly like symptoms when I got my P38 4.6 6 months ago. Air meter was the issue. And it has just crapped out again!! See "Mass Air Meter Misery"

Bought mine and use it for shooting. Was a bit precious about it to start with as it was (is) a nice one. After a few scratches through bushes not quite so precious now. Did threaten to shoot it when air meter crapped out at the weekend though!!

Thanks for the info guys. As for was the air meter an OEM part or a cheap eBay chinese one - not sure. It was replaced "under warranty" as it were, when I first got the car... ... That'll be the Chinese one then!!??

Hi Folks My 4.6V8 P38 has just swallowed its 2nd Mass air meter in 6 months. 1st one went when I first got vehicle and supplying dealer fixed it, (maybe? - symptom was no power when under load but disconnect mass air meter - and all well). Anyway mass air meter replaced and no further issues...

Whilst digging around the boot trying to locate hatch to access fuel pump/problem area (appears the one I have only allows access to top of tank), I discovered the dreaded tin worm had eaten through the seam of the boot floor where it is welded to wheel arch area. There were other holes along...
