It is under warranty for another 9 months and has been serviced accordingly etc... It is true that I like to plan ahead but equally I like to understand my vehicles... It's an old habit that just won't die. Also there are lots of things that are consumables and not warranty items. Cheers

There is an annoying whirring sound coming from top of engine near alternator. When I put metal rod on alternator casing and listen it sounds very corse as though bearings are worn. Is it possible to change bearings or do I need to be looking for a replacement. Alternator charges just fine. Cheers

Gave it a good flush out and put a new rad on it. Took it for a test run. It was better but eventually started getting hot. Jacked it up at front drivers side pretty high. Topped coolant up on tickover. A lot of air gurgled out. Rad is now getting warm to bottom so water is circulating better...

I put a new exhaust on my 4.0 2001 p38 recently, including downpipes. My mpg went up from 12.5 to about 14.4 (in the hills) and from 18 to 21 on motorway. Unexpected benefit...

How much should I be paying for a rad.. It's a shame, it looks good but then I can't see inside it...

Must be rad as thermostat is new as is water pump.

It gets too hot to touch at top, cool at bottom and cold at the thermostat(new).water seems not to flow...water pump good/new
