The retaining screw is to ground the receiver against possible electromagnetic interference, the item’s functional earth is within the loom, possibly a black wire.
Battery neg clamp was goosed
I found a heavy duty clamp in halfrauds (not exactly brilliant but it would do)
Hacksawed the old clamp off, and the new one was snug as a bug in a rug, sorted.
I decided to go to a master electrician and boom, I found a bad wire connection, a broken wire on pin 2, giving off weak voltage and the body of the wiper motor was not in contact with the bodywork as it was receiving little current. The master...
Owned my D2 for over 17 years and sold it over 3 years ago as it was starting to annoy with its persistent leaks.
I regrated selling it the moment it was driven away, and still do. 😢
If it was me I'd take the pipe in question off and take it to a specialist pipe company, who would make one up for you for not much money. Using the same fittings.
This thread may prove useful to you...
Thank you for your advice. I would like to keep it but I don't have unlimited funds and time, hence reaching out for advice. Apart from the ACE issues, which when it works is great, there are no other issues.
Thanks for pointing that out, it would have been helpful ! For its age its in average condition , no dents, some scratches but nothing major. I am at a watershed moment, as I can't find a reliable garage to repair the leaks and vibration issues...
I can only see relay 7 as an ignition relay which feeds the CJB (passenger footwell).
Relay 8 is the fast/slow wiper relay, Relay 11 is wiper on/off.
Pins 1& 2 at the motor should be power but they are switched from the relay so you may have to...
^^ beat me to it! These vehiels were not "concourse" when they left the factory. I would go far more with the usable, reliable, and tidy rather than perfect. if you make it perfect you will not want to use it properly. When I rebuilt my series...
If there's no charge controller between the solar panel and battery, the voltage will climb high enough to boil the battery.
Even a cheap Chinese £10 charge controller will prevent battery damage...
The barrel collapsed on my D2, which I had to change but this wasn't sudden. It became Increasingly difficult over a few months.
Removed shroud and drilled bolts out from above to change.
Agreed, diagnostic read is the way to go but does anyone know if the warning light flashes in sequence ?
I recall X-Type Jags had a flash sequence that indicated which circuit.
Slightly OT I know, just curious.
...er, as you know from my previous thread or posts. The connector for the driver's airbag is red, you put up the pic of it!! But the wires do go into yellow conduit or ducting.
But I agree, as you know, that he will have to read the fault to...
No, that doesn't look intermittent at all. It isn't connected to anything so cannot be the problem.
If you don't have a diagnostic, look at the yellow connectors under each seat. The wires to them are very thin and the connectors are rubbish. If...
my earth point was actually clean which surprised me. ive made up a lead for the earth wire and mounted the receiver inside the cabin, in the netting storage that is above the rear seats - should keep it out the moisture
I should add that I dun't like bmw and merc's. Their success in the 80's and 90's for being betterer helped kill oft the british car market. Its not all bad. When bmw bought LR they got involved with development projects on day one. The...
Sold the Range Rover and bought my very first Land Rover Series II - 88 - 1960
Absolutely love it but lots of work needed and always appreciate any advice or input to help me bring her back to concourse condition.
