I took cover off to feel if fuel pump was running whilst another cranked the engine.

Thanks, and yes jerking is not good,I have just checked fuel pump,and it is not making a sound when ignition is turned on.

I have a DiscoveryV8i (1999) which first started jerking and now just will not start. The engine turns over but will not fire. I have checked a plug lead and there is spark, I am presuming it is a fuel starvation, maybe fuel pump/power supply/relay(where is that situated) supply from coil or...
