Freelander 1 Low fuel pressure ONLY when fuel tank gets low. 2001 TD4.

Year 2001. Which I understand means twin pump. I've asked him to confirm it is suitable for a Freelander. Thanks.

Freelander 1 Low fuel pressure ONLY when fuel tank gets low. 2001 TD4.

Also, I see there is quite a disparity in cost. Most seem to be around 180 bills. Which is a lot. But also some cheap ones. e.g. http://www.ebay.ie/itm/LAND-ROVER-Freelander-2-0-TD4-VW-Passat-3BG-1-9-TDI-00-05-Kraftstoffpumpe-Diesel-/251192493828?hash=item3a7c3d4704:g:6ecAAOSwuMFUktrS Should I...

Freelander 1 Low fuel pressure ONLY when fuel tank gets low. 2001 TD4.

Thanks. How do you mean "syphoning". Do you mean the extra head of a filled tank provides additional pressure? Is this a commonly observed phenomenon on the Freelander 1? I will check the filter on the bottom of the tank. And that is interesting you call it a "lift pump". I assume you mean the...

Freelander 1 Low fuel pressure ONLY when fuel tank gets low. 2001 TD4.

I'm wondering what is the problem. Other night, warning light (low fuel pressure) came on and the car died (wife said it felt "heavier" and heavier, then died.). Low fuel light was also on. Started up again after 15 mins. Filled with diesel, no problems since. A couple of times a few months...

Is the CV joint at front of prop shaft repairable?

Thanks for replies. Gaiter repair thread spot on. I just did quick search on google, it says yellow grease for tripod joint as needle bearings they get hot, you use black grease for cv joint... Thoughts? Finally, those whose gaiter has split - does the noise get worse and worse? Or what...

Is the CV joint at front of prop shaft repairable?

Can anyone help? What noise does the front prop CV joint make if it's running on sod all grease due to a split gaiter? Must be a few who have experienced that? Thanks. EDIT - Also any recommendations on grease for this joint? Yellow or black or something else?

Is the CV joint at front of prop shaft repairable?

It seems to me as if all is ok. Cannot detect roughness in the needle bearings and they seem all together. Bearing surfaces of cylinder cap thing ok. Sod all grease in it though and what was there seemed a bit mucky. Would that lack of grease make such a noise? Or is it more likely that when the...

Is the CV joint at front of prop shaft repairable?

Thanks. You could be right. Although the noise practically disappeared when I removed the prop shaft, it is still there a little. I suppose the load on the IRD output bearing would be much reduced with the prop shaft completely removed.

Is the CV joint at front of prop shaft repairable?

That would be great. Thanks a mil. I've managed to get my hands on a Haynes manual which is coming soon. I suppose it depends on how bad the damage is. It was making a quite loud grinding/whirring noise. No crunching or clicking though. Would that tally with rollers coming adrift?

Is the CV joint at front of prop shaft repairable?

Hi all. Wondering if I should undertake this. - Prop shaft is off, but I want to re-fit for the winter. First, the CV joint "pulls away" from the shaft. I presume this indicates something is broken. It was also making a terrible noise when I took it off. Grease sprayed on the under-body...

Dropped allen key into engine. Problems now.

Cheers for all the advice. Was good to know there was no alternator or something down there that might have been a big problem. Yep, the jump leads were too small / bad connection / needed some charging. I got it started up, and no problems experienced with regard the lost allen key. It's still...

Some twonk striped my IRD filler plug

Hi. I had this problem. Just saw this old thread. Advice was to remove washer to reach thread. But it looked to me as last thread is reached with washer in. If you remove washer, you skip the first few threads. Anyway, apart from leaving the washer, I siliconed it all up. Let's see if it holds...

Dropped allen key into engine. Problems now.

I was re-doing the rear allen bolt on the air filter cover (left hand side as you're facing the car). I was rushed and I dropped the allen key behind the cover. Looked everwhere for it. On the bottom of the under-cover. Shone torch around, with a mirror. No sign. Left it. Came out next...

Drone and strange wear on LF tyre

Hi all. New owner of 2001 Freelander, 98K miles. I've been reading all I can about the transmission. But would appreciate any guidance on this. Will try to return the favour as I get to know the car more. I already changed the VCU and bearings with a re-conditioned one from Bell Engineering...
