No worries its sorted. I just had a play and despite wiring loom being tampered with it does work. Appears that the tach is taken from alternator rather than coil. Swapped wires and he presto.

Mines on gas but thats another story. You say there are no external leaks. Is it misting from exhaust pipe. If its not loosing it externally got to be internal.. If its your pressure cap have alook at it while its running and warm just check if its dripping or whether theres any water marks...
