A suggestion I picked up from this forum was to squeeze the wheel cylinders in, I used a ratchet strap around the brake shoes tightened it up then opened the bleed screw let the air out done up the bleed screw went round all wheels doing that then bled them as normal. Be careful tightening the...

Ronsealdeath, nice tip about squeezing the wheel cylinders in when bleeding the brakes.
Only problem I had I managed to break the post on the brake shoe as I got carried away with the ratchet strap but got over that problem and I now have a nice firm pedal.

Thanks for the replies. The threads in the hub are knackered and I cannot get the screw right into the drum. You can see where the wheel is coming up against it. ( Wellers)
Another problem I had was after adjusting the brakes when I replaced the wheel and tightened it I could not move the...

Does anyone know the thread size of the brake drum retaining screw on a 2a.

dominicbeesley, I seriously hope you are joking that is far to shiny to put on my 2a. Joking aside I do not think the head is the problem as it starts and runs well just shows hot on the temp gauge.

Blackburn the fuel gauge seems to be working as it should. I now know the wiring is not a likely problem as there is only one wire from the sensor but another possibility is a failed sensor, still haven't ruled out a failed thermostat.

My series2a shows on the gauge that it is running hot yet on inspection it does not smell hot or feel excessively hot. Could the wrong thermostat be fitted as I know there are two that could be fitted or could it be wired up to the gauge wrong.

james martin, thanks for the reply will give that a try before I go spending on a master cylinder. I have no obvious leaks I`m not losing brake fluid and the brakes are fully adjusted up.

james martin, I`m having a problem with bleeding the brakes on my series2a. Could you run through the way you isolate the front and rear brakes. Presumably you clamp off the
the rear axle at the flexible pipe then bleed the front as normal then clamp the front flexie and bleed the rear brakes...

NiteMare, have no doubt you are right will go back and adjust the brakes again as I may have slackened them off to much. As I understand it tighten till the wheel locks then back off until the wheel turns freely.

I have the same problem with my swb 2a, I`m thinking of replacing the master cylinder
as I am having difficulty getting a pedal. When I pump the pedal it does not lose pressure until the pedal is released.
