Goodbye Landyzone my TD4 is going to belong to someone else after nearly 100k miles of nearly trouble free running.
To all those Freelander knockers, all I can say is that
1. The VCU hasn't failed
2. It's got me everywhere I needed to go through floods and deep snow
and the doors didn't...

I think I'm also are hearing the same voices, I'm sure there's more resistance when driving but when reversing on full lock it is the same as it was when new. No vibrations though.
I've had the VCU checked out be YLS in York and although they can't guarantee the VCU won't fail tomorrow it was...

Maybe i got it wrong but it was the one at the rear of my TD4.
I was just glad they got it running so quickly, the garage (York Landrover Services) have always seemed good and much cheaper than the LR dealers when it's been serviced by them and it's running pretty well at 96k miles otherwise.

Whilst drive to work on Thursday I lost power intermittantly generally after changing gear and limped to work. I took it into the garage on Friday and it did the same and the EM light came on.
Anyway it turns out it was the high pressure fuel pump, I was charged £160 for the pump and filters...

I've started using Shell Fuelsave diesel in my Freelander cos I pass a Shell garage on the way to work, it's pretty competitive price wise and as a result I'm getting about 50 miles extra per tank full.
I'm staying clear of Morrisons as my Mondeo had a an unexplained trip into limp mode which...

Sounds like it could be the fuel burning heater, is it coming from under passenger side footwell (the fbh is there I believe)
Mine has always made a noise when i turn the ignition off if it is cold outside and I'm led to believe is quite normal (the fbh works when the outside temp is <5°c)

Well I've tried swapping the wheels over and checked the front discs for warpage - all ok but still a rubbing noise. So am now thinking it might be suspension related as it only happens when turning at speed and the suspension on is under load.
It's due for a service, so will ask the garage...

Will be doing tomorrow Mr K, although there's no feathering on the outer edge of the tyres I can find. The noise has disappeared as it's been wet though.

Nothing that simple Hippo I'm afraid:)

When driving at and turning left I'm getting rubbing noise from the near side front wheel, it goes when driving in a straight line and doesn't happen when reversing or like today when it's wet!
Any thoughts on what it could be?
Thanks:)

Best check your brake lights are working, if not it's the brake switch.
It happened on my TD4 but only 1 bulb was out and the switch was ok, I fitted a new new bulb and I've not had the TC or abs lights come on since.
Can't help on the em light though, it's not a problem I've had...

It happened on my TD4, I took it to the garage thinking it was mechanical but it was a duff tyre and went away as soon as it was changed. The tyre looked ok visually but clearly wasn't, try putting the spare on each side and see if it goes away.

Mine came on today (56 plate TD4) twice for 10 seconds and then went away, having read this post I checked the brake lights and 1 bulb has blown. Is this enough to cause the warning lights to come on or is the brake switch about to go as well?

I need 2 new fronts on my TD4, it has Bridgestone Dueller HT684s on it at the minute which have listed diameter of 26.8. So I contacted my local tyre dealer and they can only get HT689s which have a diameter of 27.1.
So if i swap the worn rears to the front and put the new tyres on the rear...

The Glow Plug light on my TD4 was coming on when starting but started to come on for shorter times and has stopped coming on all together.
It starts first time, so what are peoples thoughts - new bulb, fuse, glow plugs?
Thanks
