UPDATE - I see what you mean about the exhaust manifold .... filthy.
I expect the whole exhaust system must be one big soot deposit.

I wonder what % of smoke emmisions are caused by combustion product deposits building up within the exhaust system itself .. to be blown out on starting or revving hard ? (my annual dread.. the MOT test)

I must admit I havnt done the manifold - will do - PCV changed - I've always stayed away from additives, use good quality oil every 10,000 - which injector additive do you use ?

Thanks all - I take your points and advice - tbh I am worried about visible smoke emissions which I've noticed a few times recently on start up - Oils, filters, EGR, all attended too. I dread the MOT man ((in six months time) failing her on smoke emissions..

My TD4 FL1 has almost 200,000 on it now and I want to get her to 250 if possible.
I am looking at the possibility of fitting an inline DPF to the exhaust system.
Has anyone by any chance already gone down this route ?
Have searched but no joy yet.

Dear all, MOT guy helpfully noticed my NS rear brake light not functioning - easy job I thought, just a new bulb.
But no! Behaviour was:
DS brake light on = NS side light on
DS side light on = NS nothing
DS side and brake light on = NS nothing
Confusion, much checking of wires, voltages...

Dear Hippos,
When I press unlock once on my remote (on my three door 2005 landie 1) it unlocks just the drivers door. Twice, and the passenger and rear doors are unlocked as well. Cant tell you how many times I've turned the air blue when going to open the rear to find that its locked! :) I...
