My 300TDi does 32mpg pretty consistently and thats driving at the speed limit on most roads.

That sound like a duff voltage regulator to me bloat if those readings are right, you might be able to get the regulator separately from LR otherwise you'll probably need a new generator old friend.

It shouldn't be doing that tho pal, even if it is a landy. Steering box needs replacing me thinks, or at least a bit of an overhaul. My box doesn't leak at all really.

I think EOBD is from 2001 onwards but might not communicate with ace system. Our diagnostic tool doesn't list any coverage for the 10P engine code 98-00 but does list coverage for the later engine. have a look at these chaps as they specialise in LR diagnostics Diagnos - Land Rover Diagnostics

Just as long as the viscosity and spec are right you'll be fine, i think most semi synth 5w/30 meet A1 B1 so it will meet land rover min spec ok pal
