Engine with autobox and ecu + wiring. Sold by a Land Rover company too. I’d be setting myself up for so much more work but it is a nice thought to not have it diesel!
I would hope so.
I have just taken a 4.6 engine out of the spare P38 it’s worth more than the rest of the car.
You need to think how deep are your pockets cos it can be easy with money.
4.0 is the same engine as the 3.9 with engine control...
4.6 short engine from what? Still use the 3.5/9 head? There was slipped liners mentioned above. Does that only come if overheated or is there a preventative thing during rebuild that can be done to stop this occurring?
Cheers
Ask Ashcroft if the auto box could be fitted to the 300tdi after….
Now a 3.9 is good, small amount of electronics but reliable if treated right. Raced the 3.5efi & only thing we done was ruin an ecu and caused over fueling.
V8 is a good engine in any guise, the reality of fact is neglect is what kills them and in all seriousness they can take a hammering before they do fail..
the D1 did come with the carb'd 3.5 the early F and G plate cars.
Bear in mind you can...
The V8 is lovely idea for your use.
But.... 🤔.
Donor car would be the easiest way to make sure you have all the bits you need.
Manual or Auto? is that a change from original? The original bell housing will not bolt up to a V8.
The little bits...
I thought they’d be knocking about on eBay and the odd dead d1 would be on there. The v8 engines seem to be fairly costly.
Maybe it is a daft idea and I’ll just buy an old 740 or 50 once it’s built 😂
Very early ones had the 3.5
They are only prone to issues mostly when neglected, if you keep it well serviced and replace anything iffy before it becomes a problem then they are usually ok
Still seems like a lot of work doing the swap tho, as...
So quick look over to check the suspension has all settled...
It was fine on Sunday i swear 🤣
Sadly my favourite company GORE no longer trade and Pioneer4x4 have a silly lead time. So in a very unlike me move OEM it is.
£147 later...
I assume only the 3.9 EFI came in the discovery 1? Not sure if the 3.5 did but 3.9 efi is all I’ve seen…
Say you were to freshly build one, are they reliable or just prone to issues? All I know about the v8s is they can be spiky on temps...
After far too much reading about different products and being a bit wiser with how I treat hazards I’ve finally sorted the primer solution out for the car.
I have watched loads of videos by a YouTube called gunman - talented Aussie sprayer. By...
I’d like to think end of summer. There’s some big spends to come but I won’t be documenting those!
I might go also but not really any odd bits I need. I’d only be interested in optional extras! I’ve managed to get the LR dogs and a bar. The...
Yea went for mvm one in the end just got to put it all together , yea always busy hoping to get up Newbury 4x4 day in April for look round
When you hoping to get the disco back on the road then or just when it’s done?
Did you read up on that turners one mate? Don’t know how I came about it but remember either talking or reading about it! I’ll go for the turners one when I do mine! Still got plenty work on?
Hey all,
New owner of a 97 Land Rover Discovery 1 300tdi Auto. Made in Brum and exported to Japan. She has 130k on the clock and not bad on the rust front. Need a new boot floor and rear arches, rust has taken hold but not got through fully yet...
