5 days into ownership and D3 won't start

Apologies if this is a dumb question, but will my D3 have the fuel burning heater? Thanks

    Hi,

Its the overnight/couple of days issue that I need to solve, so a source of heat is on the agenda. Pete

5 days into ownership and D3 won't start

Thanks, I feel a new battery coming on. Can't believe how much help there is on the various Land Rover forums (fora?). Beats the vitriol on Caferacer.net

    Hi,

Thanks, both, all makes sense. Especially like the compressor suggestion. Don't laugh, but I'm just working out an under bonnet 12v socket to plug a hairdryer into to preheat the coolant sensor. I did say don't laugh. Worked a treat today, but need a better fix. Pete

5 days into ownership and D3 won't start

Thanks for the heads-up on that. Any chance you have a diagram/photos that would make it clear to an idiot? Thanks Pete

Thanks for the terrific info. Screen wash hadn't occurred to me at all. Was down for new tyres this morning but non-start screwed that. First -2DegC failure:( Tip on hairdryer to coolant sensor solved that. Trying to understand the 5k Ohm resistor bypass as an alternative. Or what's the...

5 days into ownership and D3 won't start

Thanks for the comments. I found a thread about tricking the engine coolant sensor by heating it up with a hair dryer. 30 seconds of heat and started right up.:) Also found a thread suggesting a 5k Ohm resistor switched in parallel whilst starting (again to trick the sensor) then switched off...

5 days into ownership and D3 won't start

HI, new member as of yesterday, thanks all for the welcomes. Sadly the D3 (127,000 miles) won't start this morning (sub-zero temperature) and an HDC fault warning has appeared. Glow-plugs dash symbol took maybe 8-10 seconds to go out. Cranked well initially now on the charger. Any thoughts...

    Hi,

Thanks all for the advice and welcomes. Sadly I have an HDC fault and it won't start this morning. Cranks effortlessly. Any thoughts? Thanks Pete

    Hi,

Thanks, hadn't figured on that. Heading for 1,800 rather than over the top ;)

    Hi,

First shot at this, so hope I'm in the right place. Just bought a Discovery 3 TDV6 2005. First 4x4. 300 miles back to SW London all good. Main dealer serviced 10,000, 18,000, 32,000, 45,000, 61,000, 73,000 miles. Independent serviced (same place) 86,000, 93,000, 101,000, 118,000 miles. Now at...
