Whilst I am waiting for my new front diff to arrive I really need to get back on the road so I was planning on removing the front prop shaft, whacking diff lock on and driving around 2 wheel drive for a while.
Can anyone point out any problems I may have overlooked in this simple plan?

When looking at 10 vs 24 spline, is this the amount of splines inside the side gears/ diff end of half shaft?

How much should I expect to pay for a 2nd hand diff?
I'm in Bristol.
Also out of interest does anyone think I have a case to complain to the seller? I got the 110 from a garage in Cardiff only a month ago and the wheel bearing and diff have already gone.

Discovered a clunking when cornering this week so started taking things apart. Everything was ok back up to the diff where I found this....
Well there's your problem!
Anyone know what the deal is with replacing it? Can I get a new pinion and side gears or is a new diff a better shout?

If it's any consolation I just had to replace a wheel bearing that turned out to be an absolute pig. The inner race was practically welded to the stub shaft, no amount of hitting, heating or even cutting would loosen it. Had to get a new shaft.

Just wondering if anyone had any experience with this chap in Thornbury nr Bristol?
Went in this week for some parts, got a second hand stub axle for a tenner and some bearings.
Also picked up a shop damaged roof rack for the 110.
Seemed alright in there, handy to have a landy chap in...

I've done a lot of reading in the last hour or two but I still haven't come up with a definitive answer for the maximum allowable mass for my 110 CSW.
I've read the plate under the bonnet but not really sure what each mass is?
Anyone got any idea that can state their sources?

CORRECT
now gotta get the right replacement kit and find a way to get the race that's jammed on the stub off. Tried whacking it with big red and applying some gentle blowtorch blasting.
