My 1999 2.5 diesel is a difficult starter. When I try and start it each morning it doesnt seem to catch right away and I need to turn the key for several seconds. Once the car is warmed up it start ist turn. Any ideas

I have a 1999 Range Rover 2.5 Diesel auto. I have noticed over the last few months that when pulling away from stationery and going up a hill the engine makes a lot of noise and is quite sluggish. Once it starts to go through the auto gearbox it becomes quiet again. I use the car daily with no other problems. Can anyone tell me what the problem is and if its worth getting fixed?

Once it starts to go through the automatic gearbox it becomes quiet again. I use the car on a day to day basis with no other problems.
