    Clutch problems

My days of crawling under car are numbered. I've fixed many a car but when you get to my stage of life a skinned knuckle and bits in your eye and crawling under cars isnt as much fun. I'll leave that to my sons and grandsons. I think motor manufacturers don't want cars that are fixed by Joe...

    Clutch problems

I'm not into confrontation. I think the car was getting to its sell by date anyway. The tax and insurance and the price of fuel were all getting too much so this 'mechanical' problem was the straw that broke the camels bank [ pun intended].

I've been told by the garage that its the slave cyl that needs to be replaced and its going to take nearly 7 man hours to do. So, as far as I am concerned, its too much money and is now it is time to part with the car. To be fair, its done 112,000 miles and there are a few problems creeping in...

    scraping brake

I've taken two ' landrover engineers' out for a drive and both said the noise was from the front and both said it was unacceptable. The garage has stripped down the brakes, regreased and put them back.....I'm wondering if they are using inferior pads..is puzzling-annoying-how much loyalty do I...

    scraping brake

I've only been driving for 45 years and I think the noise is coming from the front. My own feeling is the brake pads are not high quality and in answer to Jimy110 I think the mud/dust shield is there to protect the pads from ingesting dirt onto the pad and making a scraping noise...mmmmmm...

    scraping brake

Here's a problem for you freelander boys. Took my 2.0TDI in for 30K service. It has developed a scraping noise from the front discs, not under heavy breaking but whilst gently braking, its been back to the garage twice for detailed look and stripdown and 'now its has been regreased' all will be...

    Headlights-foreign travel

 I'm going over tp France/Germany/Austria/ Switzerland and Italy in a months time and I'll be travelling day and night. When I went over before I used to use the plastic stick-on headlight converter which was ok for tempoary use, but a long journey perhaps something better could be...
