It's way, way stronger than the spindly thing that the previous owner was using to tow their horsebox.

P
yes I'm aware that actually towing something with this on a public road is probably illegal as it's not type approved

I can only think either electrical noise or vibration.

I now have this working and I believe I know what happened.
Rimmer Bros sell two sensors.
YDB500311PMAP which has a right angle connector, and which Rimmers sold me as the "outer" sensors.
YDB500301PMAP which has a straight connector, and which Rimmers sold me as the "inner" sensors.
As you...

Today I found a hill steep enough to test the hill descent and it works! Forwards and backwards.

Manual: it's all powered through the gearbox switch, very simple.
Auto: powered by a relay which is triggered (from memory) by the Jatco ECU.

Mine did a thing a few days ago that freaked me out.
It started this thing that it would crank and fire but would only fire for half a second or so and then die.
I put it on jump leads and then it ran but it's been in the back of my mind ever since.

I'm thinking that I'll have to try another module before I condemn the new sensors and return them

oh, and ignition on it works
ignition on and connected to another vehicle that's running with jump leads, it works
engine running, doesn't work
It's very strange

Two more sensors arrived today from Rimmer Bros and I fitted them, so now all four sensors are new.
The thing is, with ignition on but engine not running, the system sort of works, but the middle ones do sod all.

I believe that the alternator is connected to the battery via a 150 amp "maxi fuse". Maybe that fuse has blown?
To me this also sounds like a battery problem. A wrench shorting the alternator wire to ground would be an absolutely massive current, way more than batteries are designed for...

There's a couple of outstanding things that I would value peoples opinions on.
1. Because the engine is now maybe 30mm higher than stock, I had to extend the downpipe a bit so that it would clear the transmission. However maybe I didn't quite extend it enough. It was slightly leaking in a...

The factory parking sensors on our our Freelander 1 were not working.
I could only hear a ticking noise from two of them so ordered two replacements.
I have now fitted the two new sensor but now the reversing sensors work if the engine isn't running.
However if the engine is running I get an...
