Apologies to everyone who has sent me messages about ply lining. I've been out of the Land Rover scene for 3 1/2 years due to divorce and subsequent complete financial ruin but Ive just raided the piggy bank and bought an old 300 TDI Disco Commercial. It's hardly my beloved TD5 90 which I had to...

    2001 Defender No indicators/hazards/alarm...

I have an identical problem to Udo's. Mine is a V reg early TD5 but is farm spec so has no alarm that I'm aware of and no central locking etc. Have the same blown fuse, I don't understand why that fuse effects the dials as it's meant to be for something totally different. Replaced it and the...

    Defender Wheel Rims

I put 235 85 16 onto 7x16 black modulars on all the defenders I sell. They seem to be fine. We run 3 Defender TD5's 110 hard tops with this combo on and they are worked hard off road with no problems. Have put 265's onto craddock replica boost alloys before and I think they're 7 inch but I...

    door skins

Has anyone ever re skinned doors and rear tub sides on a defender 90? My doors are sound but bent and my back wings a like a golf ball. How do you replace the spot welds on the tub sides? will pop rivets do the job or is there a better way?

    90 hardtop interior panels

Every 90 hard top I buy I ply line out with 6mm ply and 25mm kingspan insulation. You'll need 2 sheets of each (8x4ft) and it will cost you around £60. It's really easy to do and makes the vehicle much warmer and quieter. I always fix it in with drill screws so it 's easily reversible, for...

Heater fan keeps blowing the fuse!

My 200 tdi did the same last year, the fanny gland had got blocked with wet leaves and snow went down the heater air intake and filled the bottom of the heater matrix box with water. It needs to be clear or rain will fill it too .When I turned the fan on it sprayed up onto the wiring and shorted...

    defender door skins

Hi just wondering if anyones ever put new door skins onto defender doors? Are they bad to do? My doors are really dented but frames good. Also want to put new wing panels onto the tub side but I'm not sure how to re attach them after I've drilled all the old spot welds out as I don't have a tig...

    TD5 gearbox stiff

I'm having trouble getting 2nd. If change slowly it's fine, if I change quick it crunches. Is there any chance it's an adjustment problem or is the synchro knacked? Whole gearbox a bit whiney and selection a bit vague- my last defender td5 used to whine in 4th and 5th, this one does it in all...

    buying crap on ebay

If it's any consolation, I have recently bought an L reg Disco Commercial on ebay and it's not been a good buy either! I've always had 90 Defenders and know them inside out but bought the Disco for a bit of winter comfort and a heater. No problems are insurmountable with any Land Rover and...

    Stupid Question

I change up from low to high everyday pulling a 3 tonne trailer full of turf onto the road out of the field. I find if you clutch, put transfer lever in neutral, then clutch again and put it into high it changes fine with no crunches but must be done in distinct stages. Like some of the other...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Been out in the snow in my newly aquired farmer wrecked v plate 90 td5, disco 1 van failed mot spectacularly this week so bought a temporary project vehicle while I decide what to do with the crusty heap. Pulled out a forklift, a noddy van, a BMW x5, a Skoda and a Fiesta. 12 inch of snow here...
