how do i know how many spleens it has? or is it not applicible i.e standard 10 spleen for v8

Hi i have been advised by the aa yesterday that the bearings have gone in the rear diff on my m reg 3.9v8 auto disco. What would you guys suggest? someone suggested will be easier to get another axle and put on????
