There are a few good you tube videos of gearbox rebuilds " steam wally " is one of them he found that a 1st - 2nd synchro had been supplied with the inside reversed.. the other is "Geoffrey croker" I think.. good videos and informative, helped me do mine..

Not so much space now .. Although the rad is now leaking so that will be coming out for repair now.. It runs as is so might leave it for the mo.. cant find the pump I took out, might have binned it.. but I do have another old ac type pump and spare block with cam I can measure..

Hi all, I've just rebuilt a 2.25 diesel engine and just wondering is there supposed to be a spacer behind the fuel pump.. its an original ac type pump..?

thanks for the reply, yeah the bell housing will be cleaned prior to refitting, i'm toying with the idea of overhauling the box as when i dropped the oil out two of the detent clips from the 3-4 synchro came out... i've seen bread used to remove the spiggot bush with an old input shaft.

Starting back at the project..

Engine out and noticed some play on the input shaft in the gearbox.. there is about 1.5 to 2mm side to side, how much is normal..

Took the engine out..

looking to swap the old oil burner for a petrol engine, trying to keep it a little original but will consider a 2.5.
