I cannot rate the Continental Contitrac's on my Disco highly enough, they have got me through 15 inches of snow this week, never bothered with lower pressures just put the difflock in and off it goes. Half the battle with driving in snow is using the right tecnique.

I think it is for the water temp gauge.....

naaaah not in my opinion, i have had mine up to 760 degrees and had no bother, i run maximum boost that the turbo will give whicj]h is about 21psi.
one thing i thought about was why have the turbos failed in the past?? is it through oil starvation? is the oil feed pipe to the turbo clear??

coul be bearings in the water pump drive belt tensioner, if you take the belt off you can spin any of the wheels that carry the elt and find the noisy/rough one

I would expect that you would see pressure drop of a few psi at the point the air goes into the inlet manifold, can you hear the turbo whistling when it is boosting? you could try removing the turbo hose that goes from the intercooler to the inlet manifold, then get your glamorous assistant to...

are all the turbo hoses in good condition internally? does the turbo give good boost and is the boost getting through the pipes and intercooler and into the engine?
the fact that it uses no oil or water would make me discount the mileage as being an issue. Mine is on 155 thousand and goes like...

I can't fault Paddocks but that might have something to do with how much i've spent with them over the years!! always helpful.
have to agree with the above that I avoid Britpart stuff especially if it has a bearing fitted, other than that the stuff is ok.

both my 300 tdi disco and 200 tdi series 3 run their temp gauges in the middle of the gauge and both warm up within a few miles. My disco was like yours when i first got it, new thermostat cured it. the heater is toasting hot.

Graham - looking at the pics you posted the engine sits a lot lower than mine, what sort of clearance do you have between the crankshft pulley and the front diff / axle??

Hello really sorry i did not reply to this earlier i have only just spotted that you maild me. I modyfied my mounts, I cut the gearbox cross member out, moved it and changed it so that it bolted in place so that I could change the clutch easier in the future. I can send photos if you need me to...
-
O
yeah i can if you pm me your e-mail address. The pics may not be much use if you used the standard series rad as i used one from a TDi.
