When Land Rover sold Defender 90 300tdi's new in the Uk, what were the different wheel and tire options available? What tires are generally thought to be best suited to these, for say 50/50 on-road/ off-road use. Any thoughts would be great. Cheers.

Are there any simple ways to make a standard 2.25 petrol engine a little more fuel efficient? For example, by changing the air filter etc. Or would any such changes sacrifice performance? Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Exactly. But I want to keep 7.5x16 tires on it as I prefer the look. Not many options really, especially for tires that look the part and perform well. Any other ideas would be great. The Super All Grip radials look ok but they are not really a mud tire and I wonder how they perform off-road.

Does anyone here use General's Super All Grip Radials on their Series Land Rover? 750x16. If so, any opinions or feedback would be great. I'm trying to find out how they are as I need a new set for my Land Rover and the Super All Grip cross-ply tires it currently has are not available new anymore.

What spares would you carry? I mean, what would be a typical fault that could be fixed quickly by the side of the road? My Series II has been very reliable but I haven't done more than 180 miles in it in one go and don't drive it every day. Always check the fluids before longish trips and weekly...

For those who have used their Series Land Rovers as their only cars... have you had many problems with reliability when you have had to be somewhere? I mean, jump in to go and find a problem has developed and have to take a taxi or bus due to time!
