Thanks for all your help. Turns out it was the starter solenoid. Typical but that and the xyz failed at the same time. Changed the solenoid and all is well However something else is now playing up. I'll start another post......

Should be ok it's an optima red top from a land rover garage. I've thrown so much money at it recently Ive decided to chuck some more at it and try a new starter.

So I've been out side checking things. I'm happy it's not the inhibitor as when I try to start in in gear there is no click. In park I can hear a loud click from the starter solenoid. I've tried tapping the starter and solenoid but it's not helped. I've checked the battery and the voltage is...

The only thing is it sounded just like this when I had issues withe xyz switch and when it was checked on the machine it showed a inhibitor miss read or similar...

Would the xyz inhibitor also cause a click If it was stopping it from starting or would it not alow power to the solenoid at all

Now installing a new fuel pump. After struggling with the damn retaining ring I was juSt wondering g how tight to tighten it?

Just had a listen and can't hear a thing from the back. There is a faint buzz / hum from the dash just behind the key but that's all. Even tried the fuel purge and could not hear anything.

Never changed them, well changed 1 when no 2 injector snapped a spring but never changed the rest

Can't heat the pump at the moment but I'm still say at the side of the A47 with lorry's thundering past, Would it still start if the pump was not running? It will start but has no power to drive more than a crawl...
