Thank you for all your replies. I am thinking of changing cos the GEMS is knackered and quoted approx 6k to replace with recon unit. 2. I may be able to get a donor vehicle with a THOR engine. 3. Seems a great pity to scrap a pretty good P38 but 6k is a lot of money 4 Even with a recon engine...

How easy is it to take out a 4.6 GEMS for a 4.6 THOR?

I have a P38 and seriously considering an L322 (2003) Is the EAS valve block the same in both models?

I dont think is head gasket, more likely I think to be burnt valve. Decided to keep engine and rebuild engine myself. Will keep me occupied for a while but no rush.

No I dont know which cylinders and I do like the idea of fixing my engine as I know the history of the car but I could do with her back on the road. I could always buy a wee run around tho

Two cylinders are well down in compression but cant remember the values. Gems engine would be preferable but the Thor is local

Emission failing Garage reckon bore is scratched. Thought I could fit Thor engine but GEMS manifolds and electronics

1995 V8 Well looks lie I am going to have to bite the bullet and fit a new engine. Car is a 4.6 but have been offered a 4.0. Any idea of how much I should offer. The engine is from a 2000 Thor and does work
