It is indeed. I drained the tank and got rid of all the sediment that had gathered up over the past 25 years, and filled it up again with fresh diesel and a fuel filter, along with all lines blown out...

And that, good sir, is my very reason for taking the 90 in the first place; My thinking was along the lines of "It's an old school diesel. How hard can it be to get going...?" Chewing those words now though :( Also, I'm cranking it with the inlet pipe off the turbo, so I know there's no...

Slackened the 4 pipes at the injector ends 1 at a time to get it bled the best I could. When I had the pump off getting rebuilt, I blew the injector pipes out with the airline to remove any unwanted debris, so I know they are clear. I slackened the 13mm nut at the bulkhead end of the...

Removed 1 and it almost melted the wires I had running to it for the test, so I would say it's getting warm enough to do it's job, given that it was red hot on the bench... I'm properly stumped...

Yeah, the head gasket was done a few months back, before I got it. It was driving fine up until a week before I got it, around a month ago, then just stopped 1 day the guy left it running outside his shed. Since doing the HG, he has had it climbing big grass banks, driving around the yard and...

I climbed up on the wing and got my head down in and eyed it up along the tooth. It was bang on. I'm guessing it's the angle of the pic.

Yeah, 1 full revolution of the crank puts the cam and pump 180 degrees out. I played about with the belt and had it on/off like a strobe light, and getting the cam pulley lined up was a ballache as it kept trying to "jump" approx 90 degrees forward, but that's the closest I got the marks yet...

Here's the timing marks: Wound it over a few times, then lined the marks up again with the big socket and the marks are as they were...

Here refers to Northern Ireland, which is far too warm for my liking at the minute. The thermometer in my other motor said 31 degrees earlier  And I've had a look around the wiring. A lot of it leaves much to be desired with what looks like years of DIY roadside fixes in place, but from...

Forgive me, I shouldn't have used the word jeep, but it's what just about every 4x4 is referred to here, regardless of manufacturer. What I meant was that the stop solenoid is getting power from the Land Rover's own wire to open it, and not just opening when powered with the power probe...

I've already made an introduction thread, though it said it is waiting moderators approval before being allowed on the board..? And yes, I, along with the pump specialist have both had the solenoid out and tested the plunger with the power probe and it's pulling in fully when powered. It's...

Yes, the timing belt indeed had to come off to remove the injector pump, but it has been refitted properly, with all the marks on the pulleys lining up perfectly to the marks on the engine as they should. Unless you're going to tell me that the marks on these 19J's aren't actually where the...

PS - Sorry for the very long winded first post. Just wanted to let you's know that I'm not on here looking for a miracle cure without actually trying to resolve the issue first... Cheers

Evening folks. I've joined the forum in my time of need, having just acquired my first 1988 Land Rover 90. I got it as a non-runner, though it was starting and driving for the previous owner, and all of a sudden just stopped 1 day after he pulled it out of the shed and left it idling...
