    Variation on 3 Amigos

Gents. I can only apologise for my appallingly bad Manners at not giving a resolution to this thread. It was indeed the front offside ABS sensor. Took it to a Land Rover Specialist who correctly read the fault codes with a proper machine. Very sorry about not posting this before. I am guilty of...

    reversing lights and rear wiper.

Gents. My Freelander 98reg 1.8 has lost its reversing lights and the facility that operates the rear wiper when reverse is engaged and front screen wipers are on. Will this be down to a faulty switch on the gearbox or wll it be something else? Many many thanks. Nick

Disco 2 Diff lock and TC

Many, many thanks for taking the time to help me, i am genuinely very grateful. It would seem a nice 04 plate with cld is the way to go. I should add that as i travel in Scotland frequently it is heavy Snow that is my problem so maximum traction is what i am looking for. Sierrafery. Your...

Disco 2 Diff lock and TC

Drewster Many thanks for your reply. If i may trouble you further, when you engage the diff lock does this turn TC and HD off? If TC worked with the diff locked it makes for a formidable off road machine. Thanks. Nick.

Disco 2 Diff lock and TC

Gents Looking for a Disco2 and i notice some of the earlier ones had a Diff Lock which was then dropped from the line and Landrover relied then purely on Traction Control. My question is, do the early models fitted with the Diff Lock have the Diff Lock AND TC or is it one OR the other i.e. if it...

    Locking Differential

Really appreciate your efforts to explain things gents. I can understand the traction control as my Freelander has it. I am just a little suprised that Land Rover made a vehicle that could not drive both axles at the same time. I will make sure if i look to getting a Disco that its an 04...

    Locking Differential

Gents Thank you for you replies. Please forgive my ignorance but i am struggling to get my head around this. Are you saying that the Disco 2 cannot send drive to both axles simultaneously when the locking lever is absent? If that is correct what were Land Rover thinking? I am asking because my...

    Locking Differential

I have read that on some Disco 2 that the manual locking lever for the central diff was not fitted by land rover, they thought it not necessary with the traction control system. Could someone explain this to me please and also explain how without a lock drive is sent to both axels at any one...

    Variation on 3 Amigos

Jedi Thank you very much for your reply. Something else i have noticed is if i am driving and cut the engine and then re start it the lights all go out, everything works ok, even the hill descent works and you can hear the the ABS pump start up to brake you. But, the second the wheels stop...

    Variation on 3 Amigos

Hi The 3 Amigos appeared on my 98 Petrol Freelander some weeks ago.Took it to local Garage who had to get someone in to read the fault code as his unit does not "speak Landrover". Fault code said Shuttle Valve so we replaced the entire ABS Block with one from a 4x4 Breaker. Lights still on! We...

    Hello everyone.

Thank you for the welcome. I have heard all the Gaylander comments and jokes so Teddies will be staying in the pram:cheer2: Us Freelander owners are perfectly at ease with our sexuality and do not have to compensate for a small knob by driving to Sainsburys in our jacked up Defenders.:p:D Nick.

    Hello everyone.

Thought i would make a quick introduction. I live in West Yorks and run a 98 Freelander 1.8 XEi. I have had this car a good few years and life with it has never been dull so i hopefully may be able to help others through my experiences. Looking forward to taking part in what looks like a good...
