the oil is castrol tech..15/40 fleet use oil, never had a prob with my diesel engines using it, albeit never put in freelander yet, but did use in a 300tdi disco i had..again no probs.

hiya if you have a local ldv/daf dealers pop in oil(5litres is @£12), my ldv uses 7litres, and will use same oil for freelander nxt change.

just had this problem m8, i replaced the black part of the ignition switch first(to no avail) then found it was the brown wire was loose on the side of the starter motor, crimped it a bit and been perfect since

it is a daunting task and a very costly one if not done correct, as advised don't short cut!give engine a clean down if possible. make sure you got a manual or dvd and print off what you need to do, study it a few times, pick a nice day and one when you not stressed or likely to be...

well its been 24hrs and lots of stopping and starting, guess what??? still going :)

car ran ok with second hand switch in then last thing on sat night kapput!!! stipped it, cleaned contacts, took all connections apart and sprayed silicon spray in all to no avail.theni came back to forum saw to check the brown wire on side of starter motor,found it ,wiggled about and hey presto...
