    Defender rear window seals

Hi all, I am looking to replace the felt seals which have completely degraded. I am sure I have seen a thread for this but can’t find it…..also, can anyone recommend a decent rubber replacement kit which won’t break the bank?

    Wheel nuts

Thank you all for comments and suggestions, especially Lynall...these look as though they will do the job until I can source a new set of decent wheels.

    Wheel nuts

Hi Mick, just a bog standard hub assembly, no spacers as I read on the forum how crap they are in relation to suspension and steering.....I am going to swap the hubs out as there should be plenty of thread, it is just the design of the hubs which is poor?

    Wheel nuts

There are seven 180 degree turns of the brace from being finger tight on the stud, may need to change the hubs out as they are not the best!

    Wheel nuts

Good evening lads and ladies, I have a conundrum and wonder if anyone can assist. I “lost” five locking wheel nuts whilst driving along merrily minding my own business, had been parked up in the middle of nowhere walking dogs prior to this. End result was watching the wheel bounce alongside me...

    Swivel pin housing

Good morning boguing, good to hear from you! I used a knackered torque wrench on the small bolts which hold on the oil seal retainer and one of the heads has sheared off. I am waiting on a call to see if I can get a hand to drill the stub of the bolt out and re-thread......if that does not come...

    Swivel pin housing

Good morning all, I bought a second hand housing and after stripping down have realised it is not the right one? Apologies but unsure where to post to see if anyone has a spare lying around? Part number is FTC5298 and its the RH swivel pin housing on a '97 defender 90?

    Loss of lights

Evening all..... I have a '90 on a 97 plate. Headlights stopped working a few weeks ago and I have looked at the various advice provided on these wonderful forums. I swapped out all of the stalks and momentarily got lights working and then nothing. Found the fuse had blown which feeds all of the...

    Sqeak/squeal from under car

Must be that time of year, I had exactly the same thing last week and after having a peek in the gunk noticed that my UJ's had also gone! Swapped them all out in just under an hour, getting slowly better at this!

    Steering rod help please?

Thanks Steve, your advice is appreciated..... I am still waiting on parts so have not had a chance to play today. I was going to count the number of threads showing on either end of the drag link (one end the eye and the other the track rod end) as a guide to put the new ones back on. I did have...

    300tdi belt failure

I had a similar issue not long after I inherited my 90.... Local garage wanted £600 to change the water pump so I posted on here and gained the usual helpful advice and did it myself. It is not a difficult job and apart from getting the belt back on the tensioner I had no major issues. Agree the...

    Steering rod help please?

Thanks for comments Gentlemen! The steering drop arm literally dropped off (phew!) and so I have taken the steering damper and the rod out too so it is all in one piece. I have ordered a new rod as I am going to have to hurt the old one to get the crossrod eye off it, I had a look and the eye is...

    Steering rod help please?

Sooooo, have been playing with my 90 trying to get her through the MOT she woefully failed the other day. Thanks to helpful "how to" threads on 'ere I have been able to do brakes, hub assemblies, bearing seals, free the seized handbrake and much more. I am now a little stuck as one of the...
