Evening all.....
I have a '90 on a 97 plate.
Headlights stopped working a few weeks ago and I have looked at the various advice provided on these wonderful forums.
I swapped out all of the stalks and momentarily got lights working and then nothing.
Found the fuse had blown which feeds all of the console (20v) so replaced that (horn, wipers etc. work)
The headlight relay was getting warm with no lights so I swapped that out.
Tonight a good friend with a magic voltmeter has had a look and we are still baffled. The headlights still flash main beam so power is getting through somehow (albeit on a different circuit)?
We took the fuse panel off and managed to short the relay and the lights worked (sidelights and dip but no main beam).
The relay is getting warm so must be power going through but then nothing from the relay to the switch....
As you may guess this is not my area of expertise (not that I have any areas!) so I hope this makes sense to someone?
Are there any clever people nearby who may be willing to have a glance for a couple of beverages, otherwise can anyone suggest in layman's terms what else I can check?
