Thanks for feedback so far.
I forgot to say that they found metal particles/shavings/filings in the oil in the rear axle, hence their diagnosis of replacement.
It drives fine - economy is the same since I had it.
I think there is some slack in the drive chain.

Hi, my local garage (registered Landy garage in Mongolia) has suggested major work needs doing. Both rear half shafts and flange shaft joint. And also a new transfer box! Nearly £8000 of work and parts (includes shipping here, but still stupidly expensive:eek:).

new key cut for about 2 quid and it works much better than the original, or a lolly stick. Cheers.

Thanks. The spare key 'works' but I can sometimes sit for a few minutes jiggling it in the ignition before it will turn. I was also amused on one occasion for it to come out of the ignition without turning off the engine! Maybe some lolly sticks are the answer!

My good key has been lost, but my spare key is worn badly and so I don't think a new key could be cut from it. Is there a way of getting new keys without having to change the locks?
