Try disconnecting the fuel pipe on the bottom of the inlet manifold and place the pipe into a bottle. Get someone to turn the ignition on and see if it fills the bottle. I think from memory that it has 2 small 8mm bolts.

I'm a great fan of the k series you just have to be careful to keep an eye on the water levels, not thrash it when it's cold, and treat it with respect !!!. For it's sze and weight i don't think you can beat it. But most people these dasy just want to thrash the living daylights out of them...

Definately the mud, have you tired jet washing or cleaning after an off road session ? This might help them last longer.

I've seen it used on an mgf engine that had a 20 mm hair line crack in the outer block behind the exhaust manifold that was weeping. It cured it and the car has now done 10k miles no problem. It can cure some probs and keep a car on the road then what's the issue with that ? Mike

If it's the K 1.8 series it's an interference engine which normally means valves bent as a minimum. I've known engine where it's put a hole in the piston. You could put a new belt on and turn it over by hand to see if it locks up. Other wise it's a case of strip it down and see what damage...
