    LT230T (20D) Input seal

I coated the outer portion of the seal with RTV and let it set a couple of days in Texas heat. It's in there pretty good now. Next time, I will pack the inside with grease or petroleum jelly to hold the garter spring in place. Good thought on that. I placed studs in some of the holes to...

    LT230T (20D) Input seal

Hi all, I'm having fits here with the input seal of my old LT230T (mated to an LT77), an old 20D model (built around '87). Here's the condensed tale so far (insert your own swearing): I was losing transfer case fluid between the transmission and transfer case. So I pulled things apart and...

    110 transfer case removal

Thanks - seals (transfer case and LT77) should be here today from Rovers Down South. Dealerships here rarely stock Defender parts anyway. Half day for most will likely turn to a full day for me :)

    110 transfer case removal

Hi all! I've got a 110 with a leaking transfer case seal between the transfer case and LT77. I've removed the transfer case on my Jeep CJ numerous times, and have a few newbie questions on removing the transfer case from an LT77/300 TDi; my search for "transfer case" in this forum answered...

    300 Tdi single fuel line

So it's decided - it stays as-is. Good - it's not like I needed something else to work on. It'd be nice to actually drive it every once in a while.

    300 Tdi single fuel line

Thanks. This is my first diesel. I know that air in the fuel system is not good, but will any air eventually work its way out of the system through the injectors if the motor is running? I've replaced the fuel filter recently and I did not encounter any problems starting. And the filter was...

    300 Tdi single fuel line

I don't see any leaks in the engine bay, only my leaking fuel tank. The return line appears to go to the fuel filter housing rather than the fuel pump. There are two lines attached to the fuel injection pump, one in the front and one in the rear. Both go to fittings on the fuel filter. The...

    300 Tdi single fuel line

Hi all, I'm replacing the fuel tank on my 110 300 Tdi (originally a MOD LHD 2.5 N/A diesel), and was sent a fuel tank without a hole on the top, even though I ordered one with the hole on top to match the leaking one. While grumbling about it and taking the return line off the top, I...

Rocker arm movement during valve adjustment

Thanks for the info about diesel - I wasn't aware of that. I wonder if that's true even down south here where the average low temperature in winter is about freezing (30 F). I changed the fuel cap, too; the old one didn't have a very good fit. I imagine a bit of water crept in during some of...

Rocker arm movement during valve adjustment

Thanks for the welcome & info. New air filter purchased and installed; the previous owner kept the original 2.5 N/A filter housing, so I'm using the 2.5 N/A air filter. Oil & oil filter were changed about 3600 miles ago, about a month ago, before a long road trip. Most of my driving is...

The reason I bought a Defender is that the wind noise from my Jeep Scrambler (stretched version of the Jeep CJ-7) was starting to get to me on long road trips. And I was tired of water pouring on my feet during a heavy rain. And the doors on my Defender don't have actual gaps like on my Jeep...

Rocker arm movement during valve adjustment

Sounds like I did things right then. My air filter is grey on the outside, so that needs replaced. I was adding an Optilube diesel additive, so I'll run a few tanks without to see if that also has an effect. A bit of a cold snap here, so no chance to run it in warm weather until Sunday.

Close - 150 years of independence from Mexico. Austin's grown quite a bit since then. It's too much of a yuppie town any more. I see two Defenders driving around my area that are cleaner than my Lotus. Also, since the Texas government hasn't completely screwed up the economy here, we're...

Likewise. I've already ****ed off quite a few of the d-90.com folks :D.

Rocker arm movement during valve adjustment

Hi! I've never adjusted the valves on an engine before, so perhaps I'm just being a bit too worrisome. When adjusting the valves on my 300 TDi with about 40,000 miles, I apply a little force to the feeler gauge to force the rocker arm to raise just a bit (less than .20 mm). This lifting...
