Also check the small braided hose that goes on to the egr valve. people pull these off to make them have a little more bottom end power. Mine is off on mine and it makes the sound like you are discribing. between 2000 to 3500 revs you can really hear it. look up egr valve for more details.

Have you cleaned your egr valve recently?? I did mine last week and it made a big improvement from setting off and low rev's. loads of posts on here how to do it. I dont expect freelanders to be supercars, but they are gutless.

hi, i was going to clean the egr valve on my freelander the other day, started stripping it off the car then i got a bit unsure of how to disconnect it from a metal pipe that was attached to the egr. This pipe has a clamp round it which i loosened off, but to me it looked like it was moulded...
