Yes, it is a V6. I do not have a picture with me but the part looks like a little black cap with a rubber coating (almost like a dust cover). I got a replacement part from landrover canada and they said that they replace this part alot but they would not tell me the cause of the problem...

Its a petrol not a diesel. In Canada the model is called an HSE so I am not sure if that equates to a TD4. Is their a decompression valve on the petrol version?

As a follow up, Does anyone know if my Freelander has a PCV value, the dealer told me that it does not but I have found other posting that talk about PCV values.
