I removed the thermostat and ran the vehicle
Rad is now warm all over
I left the coolant cap slightly loose.. no overheating and rad hoses are not hard..
Drove 30 minutes No over heating
sniff test done and confirms gas leak…😡😡..
Looking at the ecu codes the one that was fitted was from a 4.0 and the other one that I tried is 3.9 I must admit the 3.9 did smell a little less fumey but not had the chance to take it out on the road to test it properly. Compression seems ok...

I did read somewhere about the idea of the coolant tank being split past way up, coolant drops to that level and no further. I don't think that's the case here though. When i checked the other day and took the cap off the whole area looked dry...

That driving in Europe would be better to have a LHD vehicle ;).
It’s only the “beast” that’s RHD and that don’t see the snow from its garage.
