    vibration / judder at 55 - 65 MPH - PARTS HELP

Agreed; the steering damper ordinarily would not make that much difference, but in my case, rather than damping it was exaggerating any bump/camber so would have an effect on handling. It is probably not that, but as I said, it is relatively inexpensive. Kind regards

    All terrain V Road biased

Many thanks to all for the advice. I recently had a problem with one of the front tyres (which is apparantly common with the Wranglers) so purchased a new set of BF Goodrich A/T's. They look excellent (is it wrong to have the white lettering on the outside) handle really well, are cheaper than...

    vibration / judder at 55 - 65 MPH - PARTS HELP

I had a similar experience last year (please refer to my post titled ("shopping trolley syndrome") early 2009. It was the most horrendous experience at around 60mph. I spent hundreds of pounds on on replacing all the parts mentioned by all the other contributors together with hubs etc etc...

    All terrain V Road biased

Many thanks for the very quick responses. Much appreciated. I think I will go the for the BF Goodrich A/T's as it will give the extra confidence when greenlaning with the caravan. I should probably leave it at home. One point I neglected to ask is whether there is much more road noise with...

    All terrain V Road biased

Merry New Year everyone. I am currently running Goodyear Wrangler on my Discovery 1997 300 TDI Auto, but they seem to wear quite quickly and do not seem to offer great traction on grass. I had the embarrassment of having our caravan towed off the pitch by a tractor because the tyres were too...

    Death Wobble at 65mph...???

Hi, I had exactly the same problem. The shuddering would normally start at roughly 65mph and would continue for as long as motion, or my nerve, lasted. In addition, at lower speeds, it felt as though the front wheels were up in the air, or what one garage called "shopping trolley syndrome"...

    Death Wobble at 65mph...???

I am experiencing exactly the same problem albeit it only happens periodically on certain road surfaces and is then fine. Please see my post at the bottom of the page "shopping Trolley Syndrome." Your title is so much more exciting than mine. Courage mon ami Regards

    "Shopping Trolley Syndrome"

Many thanks for the all of the advice. Much appreciated. I have still gone and purchased this months LRO, so one cannot mourn forever. I spoke with the garage again today and mentioned the possible faults suggested yesterday, but they said that they had already replaced and or checked those...

    "Shopping Trolley Syndrome"

Thanks. Hopefully, that may be something that they have not done and will not be too expensive. As I mentioned earlier, on the plus side, the De Carbon Shocks mean that the Disco corners so much better. I would really recommend them. It is now the straights that worry me. Kind regards

    "Shopping Trolley Syndrome"

Many thanks. I did have the swivels pre loaded and bushes checked. The garage is run by real Land Rover fans. They all own Land Rovers. My wife hates going there as I am there for ages. I did have two new tyres, Wrangler HP's. They are a newer version of the old ones, so the tread pattern...

    "Shopping Trolley Syndrome"

Apologies once more if I have posted this in the wrong section of Ford Focus World. My 1997 Discovery is suffering from what the Land Rover specialist called "Shopping Trolley Syndrome." Prior to the M.O.T and service at my old garage all was well, but after that certain roads with adverse...

    Severe juddering from steering wheel

Many thanks Paul. Much appreciated. They generally do a good job, but I have on a couple of occasions ended up with Land Rover who were able to diagnose the fault(s). Kind regards

    Severe juddering from steering wheel

Hi, Sincere apologies if I have yet again managed to put this in the wrong place. I recently had my 1997 Discovery 300 TDI MOT'd and serviced. It needed a new steering damper and track rod and the hub on the front drivers side also needed attention. Ever since then, the steering feels as...

    300 abs light on.

Hi, I had a similar problem on my Discovery 300 TDI My local garage were unable to diagnose the fault save for sll the usual checks which proved inconclusive. Eventually, I took it to Land Rover, who diagnosed a faulty switch under the brake pedal. The worrying thing was that although I...

    Juddering under breaking foot

As advised, the Discovery went back to the garage today and was taken on a test drive during which the brakes were apparantly applied heavily on a number of times. The chap said that he could initially tell that there was movement under the pedal, but after some hard braking, this had virtually...
