    Replacing Tyres

I have a set of Bridgestone Dueller tyres on my Classic. They are about half worn but I just noticed the n/s front is badly worn on the outside and probably won,t pass an MOT. Question is, can I replace just the one tyre (same type and make)or does it have to be a pair or worse still a full set...

    Turner performance Cylinder Head

After going through all the motions for oil in coolant problem, it appears that my cylinder head has a crack in it somewhere between the oil/water galleries and is therefore f***ed. Looking around at alternative replacements I saw Turner Engineering have a "Performance" head . Has anyone had...

    Help ! Oil in Coolant

Having an ongoing problem with oil in coolant system and wondering if anybody can help. Noticed the problem late last year and took the car to my local L/R man. He diagnosed a radiator/oil cooler crack as there was no sign of oil system contamination or loss / overheating. Common fault...

    discovey vibration

Had a similar fault with a 300 RR Classic and did all the checks you have done but everything was ok. One day I was pulling away from traffic lights and depressed the clutch pedal to change from 3rd to 4th gear and got a really weird kick back from the pedal - bit like abs kick back on a brake...

To Upgrade Intercooler or not to upgrade that is the Question?

I got an upgraded Intercooler from Jeremy Fearn a few years ago and have been very pleased with the results. Using the AC used to be like pulling on the handbrake , but the upgrade easily compensates for the extra load. The car is also a lot better at going up hills !

    300TDI Enigne Rattle.

You say you have done a lot of service work on the engine - cambelt replacement by any chance ? The reason i ask is that I had a problem that sounds very like the one you are having. Turned out to be a faulty timing belt idler bearing. The noise was dependent on revs and also inclination of the...

    Clicking sound

Marky Mod - This sounds very like the problem developing in my engine. Tried all the usual suspects, brake vacuum pump and tappets etc. Noticed a big gap on one of the rocker clearances when I checked them last, and wondered what was going on. Are the wear caps difficult to replace ?

    R/R 300 Tdi Injector Removal

Went to remove injectors today as they are due for a service. All went well until number 4 !!!!!!! Not enough room to lift it out from under the scuttle water sill. Looks like I,ll either have to cut out a hole in the panel or bend it out of the way. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

p38's are officially rubbish....dont ever buy one

Glad to see some folks are seeing the light ! The P38 has got to be the biggest blot in the land Rover copy book. Avoiud it like the plague !!!

    VM Diesel

Interesting theory about the BMW X5. But I hardly think that BMW would have deliberately built the P38 as a piece of junk just to make their X5 look good. In any case , the X5 wasn,t produced until 99, four years after the P38, so that theory wont really fly ! Regarding a car with issues - by...

    VM Diesel

Well maybe this isn,t a USUAL comment ! If you reel back the thread a bit you,ll see that I did have a P38 and yes it was the worst car I ever owned, and trust me , being in the motor industry for over 25 years, I,ve sampled most of them. There wasn,t a day went by without some sort of...

    VM Diesel

Yup , you,re absolutely right - but tractors are very robust and very reliable - just what a real Land Rover is all about ! Unlike the P38, which is everything that a Land Rover shouldn,t be - a complicated, gimmicky mongrel, and probably the worst car that they ever built

    VM Diesel

Everybody is always downing the VM but I fitted a recon unit from the VM Specialist and it gave me years of reliable service. OK, they are a tad agricultural, and certainly not quick, but they were never meant to be.They were originally designed as a stationary industrial engine and provided...

    Vibration

95 Rangie 300Tdi that drives nicely but I seem to have a problem developing ! When accelarating away from low speed, particularly after a bend like a roundabout, I get a vibration through the whole car - not the steering. Just for a second or two and then it,s gone. Difficult thing to trace...
